The deal.

Posthum is made by minute.tech. These terms cover the free, local-only journal at /app and this website. Paid features (sync, delivery) are not yet available; their terms will be added here before they are.
What you get
A journal that runs in your browser and stores everything encrypted on your device. You may use it for any lawful personal purpose, install it, and export your data at any time in the formats described in the longevity statement.
What you are responsible for
- Your passphrase and recovery key. We do not have them and cannot reset them. If both are lost, the vault cannot be opened by anyone, including us.
- Backups. Browser storage can be cleared by the browser, the operating system, or you. Download a
.posthumbackup regularly; the app reminds you gently, once, when it has been a while. - Plain exports. Markdown and JSON exports are unencrypted. Keep them somewhere private.
- Your own API key. Text you send through “Reflect on this” goes to Anthropic under your account and their terms.
What we do not do
We do not read, sell, share or train on your entries, and cannot. We do not release anything to anyone on an inactivity timer. We do not show ads. The full list is in the longevity statement, and it is not marketing: it describes constraints in the code.
No warranty
The free journal is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, minute.tech is not liable for loss of data or any indirect or consequential loss arising from its use. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes
If these terms change we will update this page in the public repository and, for anything material, email people with a subscription or an account. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
